Beyond the Run Privacy Statement

 

This Privacy Statement explains how personal information is collected, used, stored and shared when you visit the Beyond the Run website, subscribe to our mailing list, book a screening or download our study guides.

Who we are

Beyond the Run is a feature documentary produced by AIE Studios, part of the Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE), in association with No One Left Behind Run ACT, a not-for-profit community organisation.

AIE and No One Left Behind Run ACT jointly collect and hold the information described here to promote the film and its screenings. Both organisations handle your information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Contact details: your name and email address when you subscribe to updates.

  • Booking details: if you book a screening or request an appearance, your name, role, organisation or school, contact details, preferred dates and audience size.

  • Study guide requests: your name, email and school or institution, if requested when downloading.

  • Website information: IP address, pages visited, browser and device type, collected through cookies and analytics.

We do not ask for sensitive information such as health, cultural or financial details.

Our mailing list is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from, or market to, children under the age of 15. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that their child has given us information without consent, please contact us and we will delete it within a reasonable time.

How we collect it

We collect information directly from you when you complete a form on this website, email us, or interact with us at screenings and events. We do not buy mailing lists or add anyone to our list without their consent.

How we use it

We use your information to:

  • Send you news about Beyond the Run, including the trailer, festival selections, screening dates, broadcast and release announcements

  • Respond to screening bookings, appearance requests and enquiries

  • Provide study guides and education resources

  • Understand how visitors use the website so we can improve it

We will only use your information for the purpose you gave it to us, for related purposes you would reasonably expect, where required by law, or with your consent.

Sharing your information

Your information is shared between AIE and No One Left Behind Run ACT for the purposes above. We do not sell or rent your personal information.

We may also share information with:

  • Service providers who help us run the website and mailing list, such as our website platform and email marketing provider Wix & Formstack.

  • Screening partners such as venues or event organisers, only where needed to arrange a screening you have booked

  • Government or law enforcement agencies, where required by law

We will not share your details with sponsors or other organisations for their own marketing without asking you first.

Overseas storage

Our website and mailing list providers store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to make sure these providers protect your information to a standard consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Unsubscribing

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe by emailing us. We will action your request within five working days.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as we are promoting Beyond the Run, or until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Booking records may be kept longer where needed for accounting or legal reasons. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or de-identify it.

Data security

We protect your information through secure storage, access limited to authorised people, and the security measures provided by our website and email platforms.

You can ask us to:

  • Give you a copy of the information we hold about you

  • Correct or update your information

  • Delete your information or stop using it for marketing
