Writer and Director Dan Sanguineti reveals the behind the scenes stories while making BEYOND THE RUN.

For the last 5 years, AIE has been building towards becoming a premier educator of Virtual Production and In-Camera Visual Effects (ICVFX), being the first in the world to offer a 2-year training qualification course that utilises this technology. Further, the Studio's upcoming commercial slate of productions incorporates significant use of Virtual Production tools.

Choosing to use Virtual Production as part of this documentary was almost second nature for me and allowed for the core interview filming to occur across two cities with in-camera capture of the same background environment. There was no need for any post VFX work for these sequences, unlike what would have been required had we used green screens instead.

It’s this interview footage, shot using Virtual Production techniques, that makes up most of the film’s spoken dialogue. It led to memorable moments in the film such as Bishal’s emotional statements that narrate his running leg.
